Outdoor Tap Installation

Outdoor garden tap installation in Cambridge

Tidy, reliable garden taps with the right fittings

We install outdoor taps with clean through-wall pipework, proper isolation and backflow protection. Whether it’s for garden watering, jet washing or filling paddling pools, we’ll route from a convenient cold feed, drill neatly and seal everything.

What’s included

  • Core/through-wall drilling and sealed penetration
  • Indoor isolation valve for easy shut-off
  • Double check valve (backflow protection)
  • External tap on backplate & wall plugs/fixings
  • Neat copper or plastic pipe run, clipped and level
  • Silicone/caulk finishing inside & out where needed

Options & extras

  • Drain-down point for winterising
  • Hose reel backplate fixings
  • Longer external run with extra clips/elbows
  • Tap position tweaks to avoid obstructions
  • Upgrade to frost-resistant (self-draining) tap

Before we visit

  • Tell us the preferred tap position outside and the nearest internal cold feed (often under the kitchen sink).
  • Let us know the wall type (brick/block/cavity or timber) and if the route passes behind tiles.
  • Clear the under-sink/utility cupboard for access and check the stopcock location.
  • If your stopcock is seized or inaccessible, we may need to rearrange after freeing/replacing it.
Compliance & freezing: We fit a double check valve for backflow prevention and an internal isolation valve so you can shut off the tap. In cold weather, isolate and drain down to prevent freezing; ask about a frost-resistant tap or drain point if you’d like extra protection.

FAQs

Yes, we can supply a quality outdoor tap, backplate, pipe/fittings, isolation and double check valve. If you already have a tap, share a photo and we’ll confirm compatibility.

We’ll usually tee from the nearest suitable cold main (often kitchen/utility). Longer routes are possible and may need extra time/fittings—we’ll advise after a quick assessment.

Yes—using appropriate bits and methods. We’ll protect surfaces and seal the penetration. For dense stone or thick lintels, we’ll discuss the best route and fixings.

Close the internal isolation valve, open the outdoor tap to drain, and if fitted, open the drain point indoors. For extra protection, consider a frost-resistant tap upgrade.

We provide scheduled, non-emergency installs and minor works. If you have an active leak you can’t stop, turn off the water and contact an emergency plumber. We don’t work on gas or boilers.
